EEC’s DWSR-8501S is the world’s most powerful S-Band (10 cm) Doppler weather surveillance radar, with more radiated power than any other commercially available S-Band weather radar. It also provides the best possible clutter suppression and S-Band range performance for observing multiple long-range weather phenomena. The precise Doppler processing eliminates virtually all false echoes and ground clutter from the radar screen, leaving a clean and true picture of the rain and wind at the longest practical, useful ranges.
The system sets a new standard for S-Band radar performance, with standard features including a precise solid-state high current modulator, digital receiver performance, improved antenna pedestal drive train, enhanced and expanded BITE system and a choice of full-featured control and display interfaces.
Its transmitter provides 850 KW peak RF power pulse with durations of 0.2, 0.4, 1.0 and 2.0 microseconds, providing excellent weather detection at the maximum range in all modes. The transmitter also outperforms all others in the industry, radiating in staggered PRF modes at 3:2, 4:3, and 5:4 ratios – allowing dual PRF sampling by the radar signal processor to produce unambiguous velocity values of 128 m/s in short pulse.
