NATS Selects WSI

Birmingham, UK, 2nd October 2006: — WSI (Weather Services International) today welcomed NATS as their latest customer. NATS has signed up to a range of WSI products including WSI Pilotbrief International, WSI WeatherAlert and WSI Hubcast. The WSI product range incorporates aspects such as decision support tools, weather alerting, high accuracy forecasting and hub forecasting to minimise the impact of disruptive weather and support optimal decision making.

“We are very happy to welcome NATS as our latest client. This is further evidence of the important role that WSI can play in the ATC environment” says WSI Regional Director Aviation Sales, Colin Pollard. “The WSI product range will be in use at a wide range of NATS locations with differing priorities and requirements.” WSI currently supports over 80 commercial aviation customers in Europe including the Central Flow Management Unit of Eurocontrol.

NATS provides air traffic control services at 15 of the UK's busiest airports, and "en-route" air traffic services for aircraft flying through UK airspace. This year NATS will handle more than two million flights carrying over 220 million passengers. “One of the factors considered in the planning process is the forecast of weather conditions expected to influence traffic flows and the safety and comfort of the travelling public. The WSI Product range provides comprehensive aviation forecasting and effective decision support tools enabling us to have an optimal planning process.” says Jerry Laker, Head ATC Communications Systems Development, OS&D.
