WSI and EEC To Introduce Defender Dual Polarity Radar at NAB 2008

Weather leaders presents major advancement in lifesaving weather radar and severe weather reporting

LAS VEGAS, NV, April 11, 2008 – WSI Corporation, the leading provider of weather data and graphics services for the majority of the nation’s broadcasters and cable networks, and Enterprise Electronics Corporation (EEC), the world’s leader in Doppler radar technology, will introduce Defender dual polarity radar – a critical lifesaving advancement in weather radar and severe weather reporting – at NAB 2008 (Booth SL325).

While single polarity radar only tells a fraction of the weather story, WSI and EEC’s patented new high-resolution processing technology uses twin radar beams to examine the atmosphere along horizontal and vertical axis simultaneously—providing more than twice the data input. The data is then converted into clear, visually compelling images of weather phenomenons, even weather events that remain invisible to traditional radar.

Viewers will be able to see tornadoes as they touch the ground and follow them, even at night when eyewitness confirmation is virtually impossible. Rain, sleet, snow and hail will be televised more accurately with Defender, as traditional radar cannot distinguish the difference between these precipitation types. Defender empowers weathercasters to detect, depict and warn viewers of the leading cause of weather–related death in the U.S. — flooding rain. Single polarity radar is virtually blind to this deadly phenomenon.

Because Defender integrates with virtually every visualization interface on the market, broadcasters can immediate improve their weathercasts with their existing technology by accessing WSI’s TruVu Titan. Titan is the one interactive storytelling tool designed to be able to turn Defender’s higher-quality data into the highest-resolution images.
