WSI and Wingspeed Partner to Deliver Global Datalink Solution
New WSI Global Datalink Service Available via Wingspeed XLLink Solution
ANDOVER, MA, September 25, 2007 - WSI Corporation and Wingspeed Corporation today announced an agreement under which WSI Global Datalink Weather will be available via the Wingspeed XLLink System and Communication Solution. The combined solution will enable pilots to access critical aviation weather information anywhere in the world via the Iridium satellite network.
Now operators with the XLLink System can directly access WSI’s global aviation weather database over the Iridium Network of low-earth orbiting satellites. Wingspeed optimally formats and routes data to aircraft anywhere in the world. Wingspeed’s XLLink System is designed specifically for the demanding environment and diverse application requirements of commercial and business operators. XLLink delivers a complete end-to-end communication solution for global flight tracking, two-way text messaging, voice calling, and Aircraft Communication Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS)-type data services.
“This is a perfect partnership between two leaders in commercial and business aviation,” said Mark D. Miller, VP Product Management of WSI’s Aviation Division. “Wingspeed’s strong expertise in global communication and network management solutions designed for the challenging requirements of commercial and business operators makes them a strong partner for WSI as we bring global aviation datalink services to market.”
“WSI is the industry standard for global aviation weather information for professional pilots, flight departments and airlines,” said Wingspeed VP Sales & Marketing David Borkowski. “We have worked closely with them to deliver the WSI Global Datalink service over Wingspeed XLLink and look forward to continued collaboration with WSI on future innovations.”
“The combination of WSI’s global aviation weather services which are used and trusted by professional pilots worldwide via the WSI Pilotbrief® service,” continued David Borkowski, “and Wingspeed’s innovation in affordable global voice and datalink services over Iridium will empower pilots and operators to improve situational awareness, safety and comfort wherever they operate.”
