WSI Management Team
Mark Gildersleeve has been president of WSI Corporation since 1991. He has guided the growth and expansion of the company from a subsidiary of The Analytic Sciences Corporation, a company serving the intelligence and defense communities, to a world leader in providing weather-driven business solutions for professionals in the media, energy, agriculture, insurance, aviation and government markets.
Prior to WSI, Mr. Gildersleeve spent 13 years at Wang Laboratories, a minicomputer manufacturer. Here he acquired experience in a number of positions ranging across sales, marketing, strategic planning, business re-engineering and financial management.
Mr. Gildersleeve holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Colby College, and a Masters degree in Economics from the University of Chicago.

Dr. Peter P. Neilley
Vice President, Global Forecasting Services for The Weather Company
As Vice President of The Weather Company’s Global Forecasting Services group, Dr. Neilley is responsible for the development and operation of TWC’s global forecasting operations. This includes the research and development of the next generation of forecasting technology and the management of operations at the forecasting centers in Atlanta, GA, Andover, MA, Birmingham UK and Dallas, TX.
Before joining WSI, Dr. Neilley was a scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research., pursuing research and development interests in the fields of mesoscale weather forecasting, wind and turbulence forecasting, and automated weather forecasting using artificial intelligence techniques. Dr. Neilley is also the principle scientist in the development and operation of an automated weather forecasting system based on various applications of statistical and fuzzy-logic theory. The weather forecasting system is currently used to provide weather forecasts to millions around the globe daily as part of TWC’s core forecasting infrastructure. Dr. Neilley created and directed the forecasting research and development group at WSI whose accomplishments include the establishment of a numerical weather prediction group and the world’s first operational implementation of the WRF model as part of WSI’s RPM product line.
Dr. Neilley received a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from McGill University, and master’s and Ph.D. degrees in meteorology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. While at McGill University, he was named a University Scholar of Great Distinction. He was awarded the Jules Charney Memorial Scholarship at MIT.
Dr. Neilley currently is the chair of the American Meteorological Society’s Weather Analysis and Forecasting Committee, a member of NOAA’s NWS Science Advisory Board Environmental Information Services Working Group and a member of the National Academy of Science’s Transportation Research Board’s Surface Transportation Weather Committee.
Vice President and General Manager of Media Division
Bill Dow joined WSI in 1987 after graduating from Lyndon State College with a B.S. in Meteorology. Throughout the years, he has supported the company through operational roles in Support, Applications Engineering and Product Marketing.
While working as product manager in 1993, he helped launch the Weather Workstation, which served as the basis for every WSI’s workstation product (enterprise-wide) over the next decade. Dow held operational management positions for the Application Engineering and Development teams before returning to product management in 2002. His work includes the effort to re-invent WSI’s training program – creating and managing EDGE, a new team focused on delivering high quality on-air graphics and training to WSI’s broadcast clients. He has also played key roles in the development of WSI’s TrueView product line. In 2006, Dow was promoted to VP of Media Product Management and in 2008 led the team that developed and launched WSI’s industry-leading TruVu Max product.
Since January 2010, Dow has managed WSI’s Media Business unit, delivering on-air, web and mobile solutions to broadcasters around the world.
Mark D. Miller
Vice President and General Manager of Decision Support
Mark Miller joined WSI in 1998 as a Senior Product Manager for the industry-leading Weather Pro product line, serving the broadcast and cable markets. He has also held the positions of Director of Content and New Media for Intellicast.com and Director of Aviation Products. Since 2008, he has served as the WSI’s Vice President and General Manager of our Aviation and Government businesses. In this role, Mark oversees the company’s suite of aviation solutions serving global civil, military, commercial, business, and private aviation markets. Miller also manages WSI’s lightning business, as well as major government programs such as the FAA ADS-B, Air Traffic Command Center, and ETMS, among others. And in 2010, Mark assumed oversight of WSI’s Energy and Risk division.
Prior to pursuing his passion for weather at WSI, Mark managed the environmental software division at Trinity Consultants, responsible for the Breeze line of air compliance and hazardous emissions modeling software and meteorological monitoring systems. Prior to joining Trinity, Mark worked as a senior scientist and project manager for Optimetrics, a leading defense contractor specializing in the development of tactical weather decision support systems for military programs.
Mr. Miller has a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Penn State University and a Masters in Engineering Management from University of Dallas.
Vice President of Digital Initiatives
Jim Menard has served in various senior management roles at WSI since 1987 – managing the company’s Aviation, Energy, Media, UK, Meteorological Operations, QA and Intellicast groups during his tenure and overseeing the launches of many of WSI’s most profitable products. Mr. Menard is responsible for the creation of several key departments at WSI, including the Forecasting Group and Applications Engineering. Jim held the anchor chair for the first three years of WSI’s MSNBC weather coverage. He also holds a patent for the Power Disruption Index and has a patent application for the Road Weather Index. Currently, he is working on the introduction of a variety of WSI applications for the web and mobile devices.
Prior to joining WSI, Jim Menard was a television meteorologist in the Tampa Bay area. He also taught a number of college courses in meteorology at the University of South Florida and University of Tampa.
Mr. Menard holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physical Geography and Meteorology from the University of South Florida.
Vice President of Corporate Marketing
Linda Maynard joined WSI in 2001 as the Director of Marketing for the Media Division, charged with the execution of an aggressive marketing strategy to reduce declining sales during a down market and the successful launch of a two revolutionary new products: TrueView and Titan. Based on rapid results, she was promoted to V.P. of Marketing, Media Group where her efforts established sales strategy, market research initiatives, and marketing plans that built the media division’s visibility and more than doubled sales. Since 2008, Ms. Maynard has served as the Vice President of Corporate Marketing, setting the course for the entire company’s overall marketing strategy, developing national and international launches and overseeing all creative development, including branding, PR programs, promotional videos, trade shows, sales kits, and collateral for new and existing products.
Before joining WSI, Linda was Marketing Director for two Internet media start-ups in San Francisco and New York City where she was charged with developing business, building awareness and accelerating adoption among both customers and end users. Numerous strategic alliances, partnerships and cross-promotional opportunities were key priorities. Prior to her dot-com years, Ms. Maynard managed advertising and promotions for several of the nation’s most prominent television stations in Philadelphia and San Francisco with excellent marketing results.
